Ashland University lives out its values of excellence through the Center for CommUNITY & Belonging. The Center, steadfastly committed to putting the Accent on the Individual, has united with International Student Services and Community Service to deepen and expand its impact on our campus. The Center for CommUNITY & Belonging is led by its kingdom calling, stewarding relational spaces to connect across difference and serve others in the way of Christ. We serve people from all walks of life by embodying radical hospitality, pursuing intentional peace, and exemplifying brotherly love.

We want our students to feel welcome enough to grow into all they were created to be. We provide our students with equal access to university resources and opportunities.

This campus is a brave space to consider global perspectives, delight in all of God’s creation, and love across differences.

Unity over Uniformity

Unity over Uniformity

A unified campus is a diverse collective of people uniquely working toward a common goal. We are held together by the mutual respect lived out in the golden rule.

Peace Seeking

A new vision is required when division is desired. Rather than managing race relations we seek to cultivate grace relations.

Service Oriented

Service provides an opportunity for our values to be shared in tangible ways with those most in need around us.

“Grace relations cannot be built on the foundation of self and group comforts. A grace relations perspective seeks to place the welfare of others above our personal comfort.” “Grace relations are built upon forgiveness and the intentional pursuit of peace, trust, unity, and loving relationships…”

 A. Charles Ware

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'"

Martin Luther King Jr.

CommUNITY & Belonging Student Organizations

Black Student Alliance

We promote diversity and encourage leadership. We also seek equal justice for and offer assistance to those in need, as well as providing activities that strengthen the bonds among students in the Black community.

Eagles For Pride

We work toward making AU a safer and more inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We seek to accomplish this through education, support and community. In doing so, we hope to preserve and promote human dignity and respect for all people.

Unidad

We are dedicated to creating, fostering, and broadening awareness of the Hispanic/Latin community at AU.

Women of Excellence

We work to empower, educate, and embrace AU students through fellowship and programming. Topics will engage issues that affect women locally, nationally and globally, however, membership is open to all enrolled students regardless of sex.

CommUNITY & Belonging Programs

Resilience Scholarship

The Resilience Scholarship is a $2,000 renewable award offered to incoming students through the Center for CommUNITY and Belonging. This scholarship supports students who show promise to enhance the diverse learning perspectives on campus and among their peers. Applicants will be considered based upon their proven ability to promote community, equity, and well-being on the Ashland University campus.
