Steps to Enrollment

You’ll apply either as an undergraduate student, a transfer student or a graduate student.

Apply as an undergraduate student if you have not attended another higher education institution after high school graduation.

  • A minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average is required on your official high school transcript.
  • An ACT test score is not required, but if it’s available and is above 18, you may be eligible for merit scholarships.

Apply as a transfer student if you have attempted college coursework after high school graduation.

  • A minimum cumulative 2.25 grade point average is required on your official college transcript.
  • Contact us to learn more about transferring your entitlement.
  • You may receive merit-based scholarships if you qualify.

All college-level credit with a “C-“ grade or better from a regionally-accredited institution will transfer. Regardless of the number of credits transferring, Ashland University still requires you to complete all degree requirements of your chosen field of study. Most associate degree requirements transfer to Ashland University as the equivalent of 64 semester hours and the student will be granted junior status.

For courses from colleges or universities that do not hold regional accreditation, Ashland University will accept transfer credit on a course-by-course and provisional basis. To be granted transfer credit, students must pass 15 semester hours of credit at Ashland University with “C” grades or better. Ashland University may then accept up to 64 semester hours of credit.

Joint Service and CCAF transcripts are evaluated on an individual basis for service members to determine applicable transfer equivalencies.

Apply as a graduate student if you are pursuing an advanced degree after earning an undergraduate degree from a higher education institution.

  • Grade point average requirements vary among graduate degree programs.
  • Contact us to learn more about transferring your entitlement.

After admission, veterans are granted eight semester hours of college credit if honorably discharged.

"When I first started at Ashland University, I came in with very little information about what to do, where to go and how to be successful as a student. But as a veteran student at Ashland University, you’ll enjoy many benefits, including having Randy Spade and his team at your side to help you through your journey. He doesn’t get nearly enough appreciation for the help he offers those transitioning from military service and their families. Once you’re here, you’ll understand why Ashland University is such a great place for military-connected students."
