Enhance Your Ashland University Experience with Fraternity and Sorority Life

College fraternities and sororities are social organizations that offer members personal, professional, social and academic opportunities for growth. However, being in a fraternity or sorority is more than just wearing letters and attending social events — it’s about enhancing your collegiate experience, establishing lasting friendships and committing to the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service. At Ashland University, Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) encourages you to make a difference in the classroom, in the community and in your own life.

Our campus is home to three fraternities: Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta and Phi Kappa Psi; and four sororities: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Zeta and Theta Phi Alpha. Each one boasts unique accomplishments, contributions and individuals. Our fraternities and sororities provide their members with essential skills and unique networking opportunities, while fostering a fun and supportive environment. Your brothers or sisters will be there to support you, guide you and help you achieve your goals. In time, you will do the same for new brothers or sisters who follow in your footsteps.

When you join a fraternity or sorority at Ashland University, you aren’t just one of many — you represent the letters you wear by being yourself. Diversity and inclusion are vital to the FSL experience. Your values and contributions will make a difference. We invite you to sign up for recruitment!

How do I join?

If you are a full-time undergraduate student interested in joining a fraternity or sorority at Ashland University, we encourage you to participate in the recruitment process. The recruitment process is different for fraternities and sororities:

  • Fraternity recruitment is year-round but includes two weeks of scheduled events where male students can meet the brothers of each chapter, establish camaraderie and determine which organization best fits their interests.
  • Sorority recruitment is a formal weekend event where female students can get to know the sisters of each chapter, learn the values of each chapter and discover the impact their membership could have on the community.

If you’re not convinced that the fraternity and sorority life is right for you, that’s OK! Taking part in the recruitment process doesn’t mean you’ve signed an agreement or contract. Participating in recruitment is a great way to meet new people, make new friends and learn more about your community, even if you don’t end up joining.

Our fraternity and sorority community prides itself on its positive relationships. Brotherhood and sisterhood cannot exist without the bonds that create them. As such, you can expect your recruitment experience to be a wholesome and enriching. You will meet new people, make new friends, learn about the values of each chapter and gain a better understanding of the opportunities that await you.

Ashland University prohibits all forms of hazing both on and off campus, as is written in our anti-hazing policy.

Fraternity Recruitment

Fraternity Recruitment

Those interested in joining a fraternity may be recruited year-round, but the fall recruitment period is a relaxed atmosphere where men interested in membership meet with each fraternity on campus. They are introduced to chapter leadership, learn more about chapter values and have the opportunity to get to know the members of each brotherhood. Learning about each chapter at Ashland University helps students identify what they hope to gain from the fraternity experience and which chapter can best meet those needs.

Sorority Recruitment

Sorority Recruitment

Sorority recruitment takes place year-round, but during the formal one-week recruitment period, women participate in a series of structured activities where they learn about each chapter, its values and how joining a sorority can improve the college experience. In doing so, participants can make informed decisions to determine which chapter best fits their needs. Most recruitment activities take place in the evening to accommodate class schedules and athletic events.
