Undergraduate enrollment grows 11.1 percent at Ashland
ASHLAND, Ohio – Undergraduate enrollment numbers are rising at Ashland University and so is the academic talent, as more and more students are seeing the value in Ashland’s emphasis on individualized attention, its safe campus and supportive community, and wide breadth of academic programs from which to choose.
There are 578 new students who are part of the Ashland campus, consisting of 485 first-years and 93 transfers. The total class represents an 11.1 percent jump from last year, and the group came together from more than 4,000 applications, which marked a 6.5 percent increase.
Keith Ramsdell, vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Ashland, credits a combination of factors for Ashland becoming a go-to choice. “Throughout the pandemic we’ve remained committed to offering a high-quality, face-to-face education that students can afford. To help us accomplish this we offered a Tuition Relief Scholarship, with the generous support from the Archer family, and that will be continuing for next fall,” he said.
Significantly, the Class of 2025’s average high school GPA is 3.68, a considerable improvement from 3.51 last year. Additional notes of interest from the first-year class demographics include a near 50-50 split of females and males and more than 12 percent identifying as underrepresented minorities, while approximately 30 percent are first-generation college students.
“This semester it has been so inspiring to watch our students come together and support one another in spite of the challenges around them. It really is the Ashland way,” remarked Ramsdell.
