Shawn Orr named assistant provost of Academic Instruction
ASHLAND, Ohio -- Shawn Orr, director of the Center for Innovation & Teaching Excellence and professional instructor of Communication Studies, has accepted an appointment as the Ashland University assistant provost of Academic Instruction, approved by the AU Board of Trustees at the Executive Committee meeting on March 31.
Orr will continue as a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies with teaching, research and service responsibilities, and within her faculty role as the CITE director. This appointment represents a shift of 25 percent of her workload as her responsibilities will expand to represent the Provost's office on internal and external bodies/committees related to academic instruction, enhance communication efforts in the Provost's office, and support the strategic, operational and technical needs of educational programs across campus.
Orr proactively took on many of these responsibilities last year when COVID-19 impacted campus operations, and her leadership on the COVID-19 Academic subcommittee helped AU move instruction and communication forward in a significant way.
