Regional juried art exhibition being hosted at Coburn Gallery May 19-July 22
ASHLAND, Ohio – The Coburn Art Gallery at Ashland University is holding a regional juried exhibition, featuring 59 works created by the 21 members of the Ashland Community Arts League, from Friday, May 19, through Saturday, July 22. The opening reception will be Friday, May 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. All events at the gallery are free and open to the public.
The works on display will include painting, glass, photography, fiber arts, woodworking, printmaking, ceramics, drawing, papermaking and mixed media. Exhibiting artists are Barbara Nell Morejon, Christine Krantz, Betz Johnson Richards, Cynthia C. Petry, Jennifer Geraci, Dana Sherburne, Debra Akers, Martha Buckner, Irene Maginniss, Marty Bossler Lee, Heidi Weller, MP Marion, Nancy Dupre, Peggy Stover, Bradley Bunn, Ricki Denes, Ecca Walk, Ron Abrams, Jake Hatmacher, Maggie Deitsch and Susan Shafer, while art by Bea North and Caryl Richmond will also be displayed in memoriam.
The juror for the exhibition was Keith Dull. He received a BFA in printmaking and painting from Indiana University, Herron School of Art in 1992, and an MFA in printmaking from the University of South Dakota in 1995. From 1998-99, he worked as an adjunct faculty and print shop technician for Herron School of Art, and in 1999, accepted a teaching position at Ashland University. He remains at AU as a professor of art, teaching printmaking, painting, illustration, drawing and 2D design. His imagery reflects an interest in history and the historical use of the print as guides, manuals and magic talismans.
