Osborn, Gregory are Art + Design Department honorees
04/12/2021 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Hannah Osborn of Chatham has been chosen as the Senior Exhibition Award recipient by the Ashland University Art + Design Department faculty.
The awards were presented April 8 at the Coburn Art Gallery opening reception by Art + Design Department chair Daniel McDonald..
Osborn will graduate from Ashland with a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Art with
a concentration in Graphic Design and a minor in Religion. The daughter of Steve and Heather Osborn, she is a graduate of Cloverleaf High School and the Medina County Career Center where she learned about printing, pre-press, offset press, silk screen printing and graphic design under the instruction of Ron Kostechak.
During her three years at Ashland, Osborn’s work has been exhibited in the Juried Student Art Exhibition multiple times and has received the Permanent Collection Award, the Alumni “Wink” Award and the Bernini Award. Because of COVID-19 and other circumstances, Osborn chose to complete classes remotely for the remainder of her schooling. She was, however, an intern for OneIT, the
Medina County Career Center and Vinyl Marketing, where she participated in a variety of design
work and learning experiences. She plans to make graphic design a career and hopes to find a full-time position in the Columbus area after graduation.
The Honorable Mention Senior Award recipient was Harlie Gregory.
Gregory, who is from Cambridge, will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Art with a concentration in Graphic Design and a minor in Marketing. She is the daughter of Janie Jackson and Frank Gregory and attended John Glenn High School, where she graduated with an Honors Diploma. At Ashland, she is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a part of a worship team.
Gregory received Outstanding Junior of the Year for the Art Department. She has also been a part of three juried student exhibitions and gained an internship the summer of 2020 that allowed her to better understand the field and improve her skills.
The Senior Art + Design Exhibition runs from April 23-May 8.
