No-cost COVID-19 pop-up testing available at local sites Sept. 26
09/22/2020 MANSFIELD, Ohio— No-cost COVID-19 pop-up testing sites provided by the State of Ohio, We ACT, Richland County Children Services, Richland Public Health, Ashland County Health Department and local community organizations will be available in Mansfield, Ashland and Loudonville on Saturday, September 26. No appointments are needed for a free and easy nasal swab test at any of these pop-up locations:
Malabar Intermediate School, 205 W. Cook Road, Mansfield, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- This is a drive-thru and walk-up clinic. (those in the drive thru must remain in their cars for testing).
- Anyone age two and older can get a no-cost test at the locations. Minors will need the signed consent of a parent/guardian.
- Please bring a form of identification.
- No appointment is needed.
- No medical provider order is needed.
- Quantities may be limited.
- Testing will be done by the Ohio National Guard
Ashland County Fairgrounds, 2042 Claremont Ave., Ashland, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- This is a drive-thru clinic and (no walk-ups; people must remain in their cars).
- Anyone age two and older can get a no-cost test at the locations. Minors will need the signed consent of a parent/guardian.
- Please bring a form of identification.
- No appointment is needed.
- No medical provider order is needed.
- Quantities may be limited.
- Testing will be done by the Ohio National Guard.
Albion Brethren Church, 246 County Road 620, West Salem, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- This is a Drive Thru Clinic
- Anyone age two and older can get a no-cost test at the locations. Minors will need the signed consent of a parent/guardian.
- Please bring a form of identification.
- No appointment is needed.
- No medical provider order is needed.
- Quantities may be limited.
- Testing will be done by the National Guard and Ashland County Health Department
Loudonville Lions Clubs, 643 Wooster Road, Loudonville, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- This is a Drive-Thru Clinic
- Anyone age two and older can get a no-cost test at the locations. Minors will need the signed consent of a parent/guardian.
- Please bring a form of identification
- No appointment is needed.
- No medical provider order is needed.
- Quantities may be limited.
- Testing will be done by the National Guard and Ashland County Health Department
Please wear a face covering when you drive-thru or walk-up to get tested for COVID-19. You do not need symptoms, a doctor’s order, an appointment, a medical or an insurance card. Entrances and testing stations will be clearly marked on-site.
All are welcomed at the test sites. The test is easy and painless. Testing can identify COVID-19 before a person feels unwell or before they spread it to another individual with potentially deadly consequences.
“The COVID-19 Minority Health Strike Force has worked with local partners to create pop-up testing sites in communities where access to testing may be limited,” said Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. “By joining with the Ohio National Guard and other local partners, we can provide tests to any Ohioan who wants one. With a better understanding of COVID-19 through increased testing, we’ll be better able to prevent it’s spread.”
Richland Public Health Commissioner Sarah Humphrey said testing is essential to determine community spread of the virus -- and containment.
"Anytime we increase the testing rate, it becomes less of an unknown and more of a quantitative indication of the number of residents, whether symptomatic or non-symptomatic, who actually have the COVID-19 virus and can be potential community spreaders," said Humphrey.
“We are pleased with the community collaboration to bring pop-up COVID-19 testing to Richland and Ashland counties. Pop-Up testing is a vital part of our community response against COVID-19, and were grateful to the COVID-19 Minority Health Strike Force, Tammy Puff, Military and Veteran Liaison of the Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Richland Public Health, Ashland County Health Department, Third Street Health and Family Services, Richland County Children Services, We ACT, Mansfield City Schools Supt. Stan Jefferson, Richland County Foundation, North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC), City of Mansfield, City of Ashland, Mansfield Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County EMA, CERT, Albion Brethren Church, Loudonville Lions Clubs, and Voices of Change, Activism and Leadership (VOCAL), for their support in helping us expand testing,” said event organizers.
