AUJO performing “Jazz at the Nest” on April 18 to cap 2023-24 season
ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ashland University Jazz Orchestra will conclude its 2023-24 season with a “Jazz at the Nest” performance on Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m., at the Eagle’s Nest inside the Hawkins-Conard Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Directed by Scott Garlock, the award-winning AUJO will present selections by a number of jazz luminaries, such as Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Horace Silver and Charles Mingus.
“These concerts are always high energy and fill up quickly, so come early and reserve your seats,” noted Garlock, a professor of music at AU.
The AUJO, which took a 10-day spring break trip to the Catalan region of Spain in addition to its traditional performance schedule this year, has been providing the AU campus and greater Ashland community with diverse jazz programming and internationally recognized jazz artists for more than 50 years. The ensemble consists of various saxophone, trombone, trumpet and rhythm instruments played by both music and non-music majors.
