ASHLAND, Ohio – Four jazz ensembles, headlined by the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra (AUJO), will be performing on Sunday, Dec. 5, inside Hugo Young Theatre. The event, which is free and open to the public, starts at 2:30 p.m.

First, Inherent Success, consisting of six Ashland students, will take the stage and play a few selections by the likes of jazz legends John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and Charlie Parker.

A group of AUJO alumni are then scheduled to perform, with their songs to be announced from the stage.

Grant V with the Z’s, a five-member ensemble of Ashland students, follows and plans to play three classical jazz standards from the 1950s as well as Chick Corea’s “Amando’s Rhumba.”

The award-winning AUJO will complete the show with six selections, including four traditional Christmas tunes. After playing the Grammy-winning “Deedle’s Blues” by Diane Schuur and one of Herbie Hancock’s first hits, “Driftin’,” it will close with “The First Noel,” “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas,” “Jingle Bells” and “Let It Snow.”
