AU, NCSC sign articulation agreement for business students

06/01/2021 ASHLAND, Ohio  --- Students who receive an associate’s degree from North Central State College will be able to continue directly to Ashland University to complete their studies for a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Business Administration.

Representatives from both schools were all smiles last week as they signed the new one-year articulation agreement. “This is one of our desires and strategic gestures,” said AU Provost Dr. Amiel Jarstfer, “because it gives students pipelines.”

“We’re excited for the opportunity to offer this to our students,” said North Central Chief Academic Office Dr. Kelly Gray.

AU Dauch College of Business & Economics Dean Elad Granot thanked Ron Mickler, executive director of MBA programs, and Ray Jacobs, associate dean and professor of management, for doing the work to make the transition easy.

The agreement provides that an NC student who completes an associate’s degree can make a seamless transition to AU, where they would have junior status. Generally, this means it would take a student another two years to complete the bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

The entire program has been spelled out not only for students, but for admissions representatives and academic advisors who will assist the transferring students. The information also was shared with representatives from Pioneer Career and Technology Center in Shelby for its College NOW program, which gives high school students an early jump on post-secondary studies in business.

It's the perfect time, Granot said, to become an AU business student, as a bachelor's degree creates a pathway to an AU MBA, which in some cases means study abroad opportunities. Also, he noted, AU continues to work toward becoming certified by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
