AU Department of Music presenting a student ensembles recital
ASHLAND, Ohio – The department of music at Ashland University will present a concert of music for small ensembles on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts. Facial coverings are required for those in attendance.
The Woodwind Quintet, directed by Tom Reed, professor of music at Ashland, will perform “Horn Quintet” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “Piece en forme de Habanera” by Maurice Ravel and “Farandole” by Georges Bizet. The quintet consists of students Lila Wolfe (flute), Domenic Cole (soprano saxophone), Hannah Smigel (clarinet), Jacob Bodnar (horn) and Jacob Moses (bass clarinet).
The Brass Ensemble, conducted by Joe Lewis, Jr., who serves as director of bands at Ashland, is scheduled to play “The Florentiner March” by Julius Fucik, “Ride la primavera” by Heinrich Schütz and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentle Brass” by Dana Everson. The ensemble includes students Kyle Doershuk, Haley Sobocinski and Gerordan Wheitner (trumpets), Jacob Horn (horn), Zachary Haskell (trombone), Frank Stanek (euphonium) and Kristopher Farinet (tuba).
