AU announces plans to expand face-to-face activities in Fall 2021

03/11/2021 ASHLAND, Ohio  -- With COVID-19 infection rates continuing to drop and vaccines becoming more widely available, Ashland University this week announced plans to considerably expand face-to-face activities and instruction for the Fall 2021 term.

“While our plans remain subject to state and local health regulations and depend upon a number of factors,” said AU President Dr. Carlos Campo, “our intent is to return to 2019 practices as much as possible.”

He noted the campus community has rallied over the last year to follow all health guidelines and as long as that continues, students should expect significantly more face-to-face instruction, dining, housing and co-curricular options for Fall 2021.

The university is continuing COVID-19 protocols during the Spring 2021 term, including surveillance testing, mask wearing, social distancing, symptom monitoring and disinfection protocols. “As conditions allow, we plan to institute cautious and safe step-down protocols to COVID-19 restrictions,” Campo said, noting that limited mask wearing, symptom monitoring, testing and quarantine/isolation protocols will likely continue as necessary. 

“We look forward to celebrating this coming fall with  a return to a ‘new normal’,” he concluded.
