10 are named 2020-2021 Emerson Scholars

03/18/2021 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Ten students from Ashland University’s Dauch College of Business and Economics have received recognition and a scholarship as Emerson Scholars for 2020-21. These students are typically recognized at an annual campus luncheon which was impossible during the pandemic. Still, we honor them for their outstanding academic success.

This year’s group of 10 students include:

• Emily Bentz, a finance and business management major from Willard and a 2018 graduate of Willard High School
• Cameron Deal, a finance major from Ashland and a 2018 graduate of Crestview High School
• Molly Gregory, an economics and business analytics major from Vermilion and a 2019 graduate of Vermilion High School
• Alexzandra Haer, a marketing, supply chain management and business management major from Dalton and a 2018 graduate of Dalton High School
• Michael Haley, a supply chain management and business management major from Murrysville, Pennsylvania and a 2017 graduate of Franklin Regional High School
• Chase Lautzenheiser, a supply chain management major from Louisville and a 2017 graduate of Louisville High School
• Tayler McPherran, an accounting major from Ashland and a 2017 graduate of Ashland High School.
• Amelia Snyder, a marketing and business analytics major from Norton and a 2018 graduate of Norton High school
• Johnathan Wurm, an accounting major from New Washington and a 2019 graduate of Buckeye Central High School.
• Ross Wenzinger, a supply chain management and business management major from Findlay and a 2019 graduate of RW Faith Academy

“We feel very privileged to have the Emerson Scholars Program in the Dauch College of Business and Economics,” said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College. “The program benefits our students in many different ways. In addition to providing the extra financial assistance, it also helps the students network with some of the senior managers from the company and learn about possible career opportunities with the company.”

Paul McKnight, retired senior vice president for organizational planning at the Emerson Foundation, said, “Successful companies must have the right talent in the right place at the right time if they expect to win in the global marketplace. Because advancing people is a top priority at Emerson, we created the Emerson Scholars Program in the Dauch College of Business and Economics at Ashland University.”

A $175,000 initial grant from the Emerson Foundation funded the creation of the Emerson Scholars Program in 2007 and the program was renewed in 2013 and renewed again in 2018 for another five years. Emerson Scholars are selected annually with this year’s recipients, there have been 129 Emerson Scholars selected at AU through the years.
